At the Nutrition Specialists we have many years of Nutrition and Dietetic experience. We are able to deal with most nutrition related health issues, and also have dietitians who specialise in Paediatrics & Sports Nutrition along with Diabetes Education.
Nutrition Education is vital for all of us and is an important key to being healthy. All of our patients are thrilled with our practical, individual approach to nutrition advice and education.

Margaret Hays has been working as a Dietitan for the past 20 years and now works as a Dietitian / Nutrition Consultant and Diabetes Educator in Perth. She sees clients in Private Practice, consults to Food and Pharmaceutical Companies, writes nutrition education material and presents Worksite Nutrition Education sessions. She has previously worked as a Community Dietitian and as a Dietitian in the Food Industry in both Australia and Asia.
Margaret is the Media Spokesperson for the Dietitians Association of Australia and as such is often called upon to speak to the media about nutrition issues. She is often quoted in the West Australian Newspaper and various magazines; she has appeared on television programs such as A Current Affair and Today Tonight and does interviews for many radio stations.
Margaret sees a wide range of clients for nutrition related issues such as Weight Management, Diabetes, Impaired Glucose Tolerance, Gestational Diabetes, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, High Cholesterol and Irritable Bowel.
Margaret has two children and enjoys playing sport. She is obsessed with food; either talking about it, reading about it or preparing, cooking and eating it!

Fiona qualified first as a nurse (RGN) in London, England and then as a Dietiian (SRD) after completing her BSc (Hons) degree in Nutrition and Dietitics at the Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen, Scotland. Fiona worked as a dietitian in both the hospital and community settings whilst in the UK.
After the birth of her first child, Fiona moved to USA with her family. She spent 7 years in both New Orleans and Houston before deciding to settle in Perth with her husband and 3 children in 2004.
Fiona worked in Nutrition Research at the Telethon Institute for Child Health Research for a year and then returned to Dietitics and has been working in private practice since then.
Fiona has a special interest in Diabetes and qualified as a Diabetes Educator in 2008. She has a wide experience working with both adults and children in the dietary management of diabetes, impaired glucose tolerance, PCOS, metabolic syndrome, Weight, Blood Cholesterol, Blood pressure and gastrointestinal disorders such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome. She also has a personal interest in the Dietary Management of food allergy and intolerance.

Clemency completed her Dietetics degree in 1987. Since then, she has worked in the hospital, public health and private practice settings as well as teaching nutrition at Curtain University of Technology. She has also completed the Australian Institute of Sport Course, in Sports Nutrition.
She now works mostly with adults seeking to improve their health. In particular, Clemency works with clients to overcome barriers to change allowing better practical management of conditions such as Elevated Blood Cholesterol and Blood Pressure, Diabetes and Impaired Glucose Tolerance. This practical focus is also useful in assisting clients interested in improving their sports performance.

Niki has over 20 years experience as a dietitian in a variety of settings – hospital, community and research as well as private practice and consultancy work. She has a special interest in working with children (especially fussy eaters) and their parents and has a post graduate certificate in Clinical Paediatric Dietetics from the Royal Melbourne Children’s Hospital (2004).
In the field of adult nutrition, Niki is particularly interested in weight issues and heart health. She recently (2008) completed a post-graduate diploma in counselling and has a narrative approach to helping people with nutrition issues in their lives. She also has considerable experience in helping both adults and children with suspected food allergies and intolerance.

Behaviour Specialist

Kate has a special interest in Disordered Eating in which she has extensive experience specialising in nutrition counselling for clients with anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and binge eating disorder.
Kate also works with children and adults assisting them in the area of weight management and eating behaviours in both Private Practice and the Hospital setting. She also does Worksite Nutrition Education for a variety of companies and work places.
Kate has over 20 years experience as a Child and Adolescent Eating Behaviour Specialist and an Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD). She has a post graduate certificate in Clinical Paediatric Dietetics from the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne and has an interest in all areas of childhood and adolescent nutrition.

Libby has a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics and a Post Graduate Diploma in Dietetics from Curtin University. She has worked as both a Community and Clinical Dietitian and has further qualifications in Diabetes Education.
Libby now works in Private Practice and her areas of expertise are:
• weight management
• diabetes
• gestational diabetes
• polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS)
• food intolerances and allergies
• gastrointestinal issues
• cholesterol and blood pressure issues.
Libby is passionate about working with people who have a desire to make a difference to their health and want to understand the underlying issues related to their well being. Libby enjoys being active and she has a passion for cooking and loves all kinds of food.

Bethanie has a wide range of sports nutrition experience, having worked at both the Australian and English Institutes of Sport. She has tertiary qualifications in Human Movement, Nutrition and Dietetics and has completed the International Olympic Committee Diploma of Sports Nutrition.
Bethanie has worked with Olympic and elite athletes across a number of sports including:
• track and field
• distance running
• rowing
• cycling
• basketball
• ballet
• many football codes
Bethanie is currently consulting to:
• The Australian Men’s and Women’s Hockey Teams
• Tennis Australia (where Bethanie is the Performance Nutrition Coordinator)
